Heat transfer coefficient

Heat transfer coefficient

Heat transfer coefficient is the degree of how effectively heat is transferred between solid surface and fluid. Its SI unit is [W/(m2∙K)] .

It is determined by factors, e.g., the type of fluid, conditions of flow, the shape of heating face. Heat transfer coefficient becomes greater as thermal conductivity and flow velocity increase.
