Incompressible fluid

Incompressible fluid

An incompressible fluid is a fluid with a constant density.

Although this type of fluid does not exist in reality, this concept is used to simplify calculations of flows significantly by assuming that density is constant.

When changes in density caused by fluid compression and expansion are small enough to ignore, the fluid can be treated as an incompressible fluid in analyses.
