Overset grid is a mesh grid consisting of ovelapping meshes. It is also called overset mesh.

When analyzing phenomena such as complicated motions and collision of objects, it can be difficult to generate one single mesh. In such a case, the analysis is conducted using overset grid: a mesh containing a moving object (slave region) and the mesh of the analysis region (master region) overlap as shown below.
