May 2012/ -- Software Cradle (Cradle) joined the "Shitamachi (Downtown) Bobsled" Network Project Promotional Committee. This committee will develop Japan's first bobsled. In addition to Cradle, the team consists of Material Co., Ltd, Showa-ss Co., Ltd, Kamijima Netsushori Co., Ltd, Dome Carbon Magic Co., Ltd, the University of Tokyo, Sendai University Bobsleigh Luge Skelton Club and others (see list below).

Bobsledding is often referred to as Formula One on ice. Technology from Formula One is often used to design and build bobsleds. Most of the prominent bobsled teams have their sleds designed by engineering teams from the automotive and aerospace industries. Numerical simulation and wind tunnel testing are absolute essentials to minimize air resistance, a major factor in bobsled performance.

For the "Shitamachi Bobsled", Cradle will be responsible for the aerodynamic analysis. SC/Tetra, 3D unstructured-mesh CFD software, will be used for simulation and will be coupled with optimization software to optimize the bobsled's body shape. Cradle will work to provide technical support to the body design committee.
