Your CFD Software Should Not Define Your Limits

Many of the CFD software on the market today make dramatic claims about how easily their CFD codes can be used to evaluate design concepts and reduce cycle time. These claims may be true when the problems being solved are relatively simple. However, when the geometry and/or flow phenomena become very complex, these software codes are quickly out of their league. As the user, there can be no greater frustration than finding out your CFD software cannot handle the complexity of the problems you're trying to solve.


Software Cradle's flagship SC/Tetra unstructured grid, general purpose CFD software contains all-in-one pre-processor, solver and post-processor. It's pre-processor is very robust. It is able to read a wide variety of geometry formats. It contains integrated capabilities to diagnose, repair, and refine the geometry. The SC/Tetra pre-processor uses a robust hybrid mesh generator with octree-based resolution control that provides maximum grid control when refining the mesh.


Precise spatial grid control is imperative for putting cells where they are most needed and refining the mesh in critical regions. Many mesh generators provide grid control on the surfaces but provide virtually no control in the middle of the computational space. This is a major of advantage of the octree mesh generator. It enables the user to control grid placement and density throughout the region of flow.


SC/Tetra uses a very low memory consumption solver (5M cells/GB of RAM). This enables the user to run higher resolution models that capture essential details and improve accuracy, while keeping run time to a minimum. Combined with the fact that SC/Tetra has been developed, since its inception, to run on PCs enables CFD engineers to harness maximum computational power from their existing computer hardware.


Unlike ordinary general purpose CFD software, the extensive functionality contained within SC/Tetra enables simulation of a variety of other thermal/fluid applications. Some of these capabilities include free surface simulation, aero acoustics, human body thermoregulation, object movement due to induced fluid forces (with six degrees of freedom), sprays, and more.
